Track Meet at William Campbell

The CHS track team had a meet recently at William Campbell competing against Nelson County, William Campbell, and Appomattox.

The boys’ team placed third out of four teams.

The boys 4×8 team won the 4×8 relay, which consisted of sophomore Caleb Wright, freshman Carter Boon, senior Ethan Dunevant, and senior Brett Reynolds.

Brett also won the 1600 and placed second in the 800.

The 4×100 half ton team won the 4×1 relay, after a William Campbell runner hit the track in the exchange zone. The 4×100 runners were senior Jacob “Tennessee” Willis, senior Ben “The King” Burton, junior Seth “The Legend” Barker, and junior Caden Spaulding.

Sophomore Clement Hurt placed 4th in the 400, while senior Ethan Dunevant placed 5th.

For the throwing events, senior Jacob Willis placed fourth in the discus and  Junior Rhamir Coles placed fourth in the shot put.

The girls team placed second out of four teams, two points behind Nelson County.

Sophomore Anasia Harrell won the 300 hurdles and also placed second in the 100 hurdles, long jump, and triple jump.

Senior, Rachel Bolling won the 400.

Junior, Caroline Broomell won the 3200.

Junior Emerson Scollo was third in discus and fourth in the 400.

Junior Makenzie Mitchell was third in the 400.

Senior Summer Carlsen was third in the 800.

Senior Mallorie Burton was fourth in the 100 and 200.

Senior, Brianna Salas was fourth in the 1600.

Senior Bre Price was fifth in the shot.

Senior Karen Sanchez was fifth in the 1600.

Freshman Kristen Rogers was fifth in the 400.

Sophomore Sydney McBride, senior Laura Reaves, senior Brianna Salas, and freshman Makailla Davis, the 4×8 relay team, placed first in the 4x8oo relay.
