The sports results were a mixed bag of wins and losses in Sports’ Week Three.

Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball teams are still undefeated. JV took on William Campbell at home Sept. 5th and won both sets. Caroline Vicks and Macy Calhoun had four kills, Katie Moore had nine assists, and Brianne Conner had eight aces. Varsity also won there three sets. Sage Crider, Taylor Haymore, Emerson Scollo, and Brooke Austin all had five kills. Sage also had seven aces and Emerson had six aces.

Cross Country competed at a five way meet against Dan River, Gretna, William Campbell, and Appomattox. Caleb Dunnevent, Caleb Wright, Carter Boon, and Tanner Boon came in second overall. Caroline Broomell finished first overall for the girls, Savannah Carlsen finished fourth, and Gussie Paris finished seventh. The girls came in first as a team.

Chatham’s golf team played three matches this week. They played at Cedars Golf Course against Appomatox and William Campbell and won with a score of 156. Jacob Holley shot a 33, Grant Reynolds shot a 39, Matthew Arnold shot a 40, and Tanner Merricks shot a 44. They also played at Ringgold Golf Course against Dan River and won 155-176. Grant Reynolds shot a 35, Matthew Arnold and Jacob Holley both shot a 38, and Tanner Merricks shot a 44. They traveled to Patrick County on Sept. 5th and played 18 holes but lost 350-354. Jacob Holley shot a 78, Matthew Arnold shot a 84, Tanner Merricks shot a 95, and Grant Reynolds shot a 97.

JV football didn’t play Martinsville on Aug. 30 because of excessive heat. Varsity football lost on the road to Martinsville 27-0. Ethan Reynolds was 11-25 for 82 yards. Peyton McCoy had four carries for 16 yards. Hunter Furr had six catches for 47 yards. Tyshun Mingle had four catches for 20 yards. On the defensive side of the ball Tyriq Calloway had 11 tackles, Bradley Giles had 10 tackles, and Kamden Lewis had eight tackles.
