CHS Graduate Succumbs to Injuries

Former CHS honor graduate, George Apostolos Grekos, 21,  died Wed., Oct. 17, from injuries sustained in a car accident Saturday night after homecoming.

George was born Aug. 19, 1997. He  is survived by his father,  Dr. Paul Grekos,  former CHS football coach and softball coach, and his wife, Michelle; his mother, Sheryl Dahl Grekos; and his sister Olivia Grekos Arnold, former SPED teacher at CHS and coach of varsity softball team here, and her husband Andrew; and others.

While at CHS, George served as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a three-year letterman in football. A junior at Christopher Newport University where he was studying history, George was a popular, fun-loving young man, beloved by many.

“He had a strong Christian faith. He loved all kinds of music; he found his peace and found himself in music. He also loved the outdoors, the Boston Red Sox, and the Carolina Hurricanes,” according to his obituary.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM, Sun., Oct. 21, at the CHS football field, with Rev. Freddy Vicks officiating.
