Cavalier Athletics Summary Week 13

The varsity baseball team won three games this week. The win against Dan River was 8-0. Andrew Potojecki pitched the game; he struck out 11 and allowed three hits. Matthew Arnold had a double and a single, and Graham Dalton made a home run.

The game against William Campbell game was 20-9. Christian Lancaster made the winning pitch of the game with five strikeouts for five innings. Matthew Arnold had a single and a home run. Graham Dalton had three hits and three bases. Luke Martin, Hunter Adkins, Grayson Reynolds, all had hits.

The game against Altavista was 15-1. Matthew Arnold pitched the game with 11 strikeouts. Graham Dalton had two hits, and Grayson Reynolds had a double.

The girl’s soccer team went against Randolph Henry; they won 4 -2. Blaine Adkerson, Elizabeth Hardy, MaKenzie Mitchell all scored a goal. The last point was scored by the opposing team.

In softball, the Lady Cavaliers went up against Nelson County and won 8-1. Jahna Waters pitched the game with 10 strikeouts and five hits. Caroline Vicks, Alex Gauldin, Sage Crider, Taylor Lester, Jahna Waters, and Abby Owen, all had hits for Chatham.

The game against William Campbell was a win with a score of 11-1. Jahna Waters  had the winning pitch and Sage Crider was three for three.

The Dan River game was a win with a score of 4-1. Jahna Waters pitched the game and had one run. Sage Crider had a tie breaking RBI. Alex Gauldin  had three for four at the plate.

Girls track had great meet against William Campbell. Arianna Petty won her 400 meter race and came in third for her 200. Charity Wilson was second in her long jump and in the 200 meter race; she was also third in high jump and the 100 meter race. Anasia Harrell won the 100 meter hurtles and 100 meter dash; was second in triple jump  and 300 hurtles, and was fourth in high jump.

Cerenity Runyon won the 3200 race. Andresia Conley came in fourth in the long jump, 200, and 400 race. Emerson Scollo came in second for discus. Alyssa Nelson was second for shot put, and Kaniyah Moore was fourth. Betsabe Galindo was second for the 1600. Makenzie Mitchell was second in the 400. Bailey Calhoun won the 800, and Cerenity Runyon was second in the 800. In the relay races, Bailey Calhoun, Makenzie Mitchell, Betsabe Galindo and Kristen Rodgers won the 4 by 8. In the 4 by 4 was Makenzie Mitchell, Patience Turner and  Elizabeth McAdams.

The boys track team also had a great meet against William Campbell. In the 4 x 1 relay, Chatham came in second; the following runners were in the race: Garrett Bennett, Daniel Hyler, Rodney Walker and Nick Williams. In the 4 bx 8 Tanner Boon, Carter Boon, Peyton McCoy and Caleb Wright came in first place. Daniel Hyler came in fourth for the discus, and Rhamir Coles came in fourth for the shot put.

Caleb Wright won the 800 meter race, and Peyton McCoy came in second for long jump and first in triple jump. Kendall Beneby came in second in the two mile race and fourth in the 1600. Grant Gibbson came in second in the 400 meter race.
