CHS’s athletic teams had a busy week.

The varsity baseball team had three games; they won two out of the three games.

In the first game they went against Magna Vista and won 14-4. Logan Nichols was the starting pitcher, and Grayson Reed was the winning pitcher of the game. The outstanding hitters of the game were Grayson Reed with three for four and two doubles. Graham Dalton with two for three and a double. Brae Adkins with a two for four, a double, a triple, and six runs batted in. Andrew Potojecki had two runs batted in and a triple. Hunter Adkins had a double and a run batted in. Luke Martin had two doubles and Thomas Rodgers had two for three.

The second game was against Appomattox. They lost 4-5. Andrew Potojecki had a five inning pitch with no runs; he struck out five. Christian Lancaster struck out two in one inning. Andrew Potojecki also had a single and a run batted in. Brae Adkins had a double and a run batted in. The third game was against Nelson they won 11-0. Logan Nichols was the winning pitcher with three strike outs: one hit and one walk in three innings. Hunter Adkins had three for three and two runs batted in. Luke Martin had two for three and two runs batted in. Christian Lancaster had a triple and a run batted in. Graham Dalton hit two sacrifice fly balls.

The JV baseball team had a game against Nelson. They won 4-3. The winning pitcher was Jacob Moore with three hits in four to three innings. Henry Hurt and Daniel Hendricks were two for four. Dawson Newell had two for three, and three runs batted in.

The softball team won one out of three games.

The first game was against Appomattox; they lost 0-13. Jahna Waters pitched with 12 runs, 13 hits and one strike out. Offensive hitters of the game were Caroline Vicks, Alex Gauldin, and Mary Paris.

The second game was against Magna Vista; they lost 0-5. Jahna Waters pitched six innings with six hits, five runs, and two strikeouts. Offensive hitters were Alex Gauldin, Abby Owen, Taylor Lester, Tori Roark, and Sage Crider.

The third game was against Nelson; they won 15-6. Haleigh Simms pitched with three runs, three hits, and one strike out in five innings. Sage Crider had 12 hits, Taylor Lester had three hits, and Jahna Waters had two hits and scored eight runs in the fourth inning.

The girls track team came in second place to Dan River.

Anasia Harrell came in first place in the 100 meter hurtles, 300 meter hurtles, triple jump, high jump, and the 100 meter dash. Andresia Conley came in sixth place in the 400 meter race. Charity Wilson came in first place in the 200 and 400 meter races. She came in third place in the 100 meter dash and in high jump. Arianna Petty was in fourth place in the 200 meter race and fifth in the triple. Caroline Broomell was first in the two mile race, and Betsabe Galindo came in second. Bailey Calhoun was second in the 800, Emerson Scollo was sixth in the discus, Alyssa Nelson was sixth in the shot put, and Keslee Hylton was second in the shot put and third in the discus. In the 4 x 8 relay Mackenzie Mitchell, Bailey Calhoun, Betsabe Galindo, and Cerenity Runyon came in second place. In the 4 x 4 relay Bailey Calhoun, Andresia Conley, Mackenzie Mitchell, and Arianna Petty also came in second place.

The boys track team had great meet as well.

Caleb Wright won the 1600. Peyton McCoy was third in the triple jump and sixth in the long. Nick Williams was fourth in the shot put, Seth Barker was fifth in the discus, Carter Boon was third in the 800, and Rhamir Coles was second in the shot put.

In the 4 x 4 relay  Peyton McCoy, Carter Boon, Tanner Boon, and Caleb Wright came in Second place.  Peyton McCoy, Carter Boon, Tanner Boon, and Clement Hurt were fourth in the 4 x 8 relay.
