Cracker Barrel: It’s okay…

Cracker Barrel isn’t as good as it used to be, and I don’t recommend going.

I visited Cracker Barrel on 3820 Wards Road, Lynchburg, around 12:30 PM, Sun., Sept. 29, and I was not impressed.

The outside decor looked homey and welcoming.

The inside decor was disorganized and cluttered. The decor was interesting and old fashioned, but the memorabilia seemed to be randomly hung here and there. The restaurant seating was very hard and uncomfortable.

The 45 minute wait time for a table was horrible.  It took 25 additional minutes to get my food.

My waitress was great. My tea glass was always full, and she inquired several times if my food was good. She was very polite and did her job well.

I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken with French fries and macaroni and cheese and it was mediocre. The portion size for the fries and mac and cheese were very small. The chicken (dark meat) was very well seasoned, flavorful, and a large portion. The cornbread provided was very dry and tasted like cardboard.

The prices are reasonable. My food, drink, and tip for the waitress added up to $22 and some change.

Overall, it was not traveling over an hour to eat at Cracker Barrel. It’s was an average experience. I give it a 2.7 out of 5.
