There’s nothing better for laughs than watching a movie that ridicules and mocks other movies, especially horror films, so here’s a list of our favorites.

Scary Movie franchise is a series of films that parody the majority of horror movies. There are usually some big stars in the films; for example,  Regina Hall and Marlon Wayans star in all of the films.

Some other big names are Natasha Lyonne, Tim Curry Kevin Hart, Leslie Nielsen, Anthony Anderson, Queen Latifah, Simon Cowell, Macy Gray, Molly Shannon, Phil McGraw (Dr. Phil), Cloris Leachman, Ashley Tisdale, Lindsay Lohan, Terry Crews, Snoop Dogg, Jasmine Guy, and Bow Wow.

Scary Movie is mainly a parody of Scream; Scary Movie 2 portrayed The Haunting; Scary Movie 3 targeted The Ring; Scary Movie 4 made mockery of  Saw; Scary Movie 5 poked fun at Paranormal Activity.

Cavalier Chronicles gives the Scary Movie franchise a 5/5 stars.

The Scream series is very funny and does an extremely good at playing on slashing films’ trope. Scream was the movie that started the parody craze, and since its release in 1996, plenty of films have tried to do what this film did so well.

Cavalier Chronicles gives Scream a 4.8/5 stars.

The Cabin in the Woods is about your typical teenage group of friends in the middle of nowhere and bad things start to happen, but there’s a twist. You have to watch the movie to find out about the twist; it is really good.

The Cabin in the Woods is a great take on the horror movie genre and has a very interesting perspective on movies.

Cavalier Chronicles gives The Cabin in the Woods a 4.7/5 stars.

The Sharknado franchise is about a hurricane that turns into a tornado filled with sharks. Critics have mocked Star WarsJaws, and other shark movies, movies about outer space, and Megalodon Sharks.

Cavalier Chronicles gives Sharknado a 4.7/5 stars.

Hot Fuzz is a wonderful parody of the action genre. It follows an overachieving officer who is reassigned to a small town where he and his partner must solve a series of murders.

Hot Fuzz is a hilarious movie with some great action. While it’s not entirely a spoof on horror films, it definitely has hints of slasher and thriller in it.

Cavalier Chronicles gives Hot Fuzz a 4.5/5 stars.

Zombieland is an action filled parody of the zombie genre. It follows a college student who is searching for his family and slowly teams up with some other survivors.

We’ve seen plenty of “zombies have taken over the nation” movies, but what makes this one unique is the characters and comedy are great. You care about all of the characters, and understand their motivations, while also laughing your tail off as they have simple conversations.

Cavalier Chronicles gives Zombieland a 4.6/5 stars.

Some honorable mention films are Haunted House (4.5 stars); Superhero Movie (4.5 stars); Zoolander (4.5 stars); Spaceballs (4.5 stars);  Not Another Teen Movie (4.4 stars); Monty Python and the Holy Grail (4.3 stars); Tropic Thunder (4.3 stars); Young Franklin (4.3 stars); The Starving Game (4,3 stars); Shaun of the dead (4.2 stars); Dark Shadows (4.1 stars); Austin Powers (4.0 stars); Dracula: Dead & Loving it (4.0 stars); The Naked Gun (4.0 stars); You Can’t Kill Stephen King (3.7 stars); Vampires Suck (3.4 stars); and  Killer Klowns From Outer Space (3.3 stars).
