Chatham’s varsity football team had their second loss of the season, 35-19, to Nelson County at Lovingston recently.

Three turnovers hurt the team.

After a 34 yard touchdown (TD) by Zae Edmunds, the halftime score was 21-7. Quarterback Ethan Reynolds threw the ball 26 times and 11 of his passes were caught; with 156 yards and zero interceptions, he carried the ball 20 times for 56 yards.

The number one carrier was Michael Gunnell with 16 carries for 79 yards.

Edmunds had one catch with a 34 yard TD. Micah Robertson, junior, had two catches with eight yards. Jacob Pickrel, senior, had two catches with 31 yards and one TD. Carlos Mendoza, senior, had one catch with 20 yards and one TD; Peyton McCoy, senior, had two catches with 36 yards; and Jojo Hanks, senior, had two catches with 20 yards.

On defense, the leading tackler was Jacob Dalton, junior, with nine tackles. Right behind him is Jacob Doss, sophomore, with eight tackles, one tackle for loss (TFL), and one quarterback sack.

Nick Williams, senior, had seven tackles with one TFL; Pickrel, Brae Adkins, senior, and Bradley Giles, senior, all had six tackles each; and Michael Gunnell, junior, had five tackles with two TFLs.

Isaiah Harris, junior, had five tackles including one force fumble; Kaleb Moore, junior, had one interception, and Caleb Oakes, senior, blocked a kick.
