D-day Memorial Service
Several CHS JROTC cadets recently enjoyed a field trip to the D-Day memorial in Bedford on Veterans Day.
The Tunstall, Dan River, and Bedford, and Nottoway High School JROTC cadets walked down with the flags at 11:00 AM to begin the ceremony.
After the invocation was offered John Long, Bedford County JROTC presented the colors while Bedford Elementary School sang the “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
During the Memorial the Veterans present shared anecdotes about D-Day and the meaning of D-Day today. All veterans from every branch of the military were honored at the end of the ceremony. The veterans stood up at the front and all the elementary school kids and JROTC cadets who attended the ceremony shook hands with the veterans and thanked them for their service.
