Yamato’s is a mediocre Japanese restaurant at 4118 Halifax Road, South Boston, VA.

My mom and I dined in on Sat., Nov. 16 around 1 PM.

I ordered the Hibachi steak and shrimp with fried rice and no vegetables the cost was  around $9. The food tasted very good.

My mom ordered the Hibachi Filet Mignon; it cost about $13. She enjoyed hers. Her steak and mine looked and tasted the same. Both were on the lunch special.

We both ordered Pepsi; the drink costs were $1.50 each. The total meal was $25. It took about six minutes to get our food.

There was only one visible waitress working. My drink ran out right as we finished, so we ordered to-go drinks. It took a full ten minutes to get our drinks and the check.

We had plenty of food to fill us up for the day.

The decor was average. There were some Japanese posters and signs. Both TVs were playing clips of talent shows like American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The X Factor.

The inside was clean but disorganized.

I give Yamato’s a 4.2/5. The deduction was for the lack of decor and the wait time for everything but the food.

If you’re not in a hurry and enjoy Japanese food,  I recommend going there.
