Homemade gingerbread ornaments add a cute decoration to any Christmas Tree during Christmas.

Supplies needed

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cup ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons craft glue
  • Mixing bowl
  • Drinking straw
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking Racks and baking sheets
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Sandpaper
  • Oven
  • Items to decorate the ornament with
  • Ribbon or hook

Directions

  1. Add the applesauce, cinnamon, and glue to the mixing bowl and dig your hands  in the bowl and mix it with your fingers. When you are able to roll all the dough into a ball you’re done and able to wash your hands.
  2. Take about 1/3 of the ball and place it in-between 2 sheets of plastic wrap. Now start rolling, you will want the ornament to be about 1/3″ to 1/2″ thick. The thinner the ornament the more likely it is to break and curl up at the ends.
  3.  Remove the top layer of plastic wrap, and set it to the side for later use. Start cutting in the dough with your cookie cutter.
  4.  Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you run out of dough.
  5.  Place all ornaments on a baking rack. After drying decorate the ornaments how you’d like.
  • Baking: Pop the ornaments onto a baking pan on top of a baking sheet. Preheat the oven too 200 degrees. place ornaments in the oven for about 2 1/2 hours.
  •  Air dry: Put ornaments on a baking rack and put the rack in a place that they will not be bothered and let them dry. This method may take a few days.
