Top TV Shows of 2019

There are many TV shows that premiered this year and impacted many viewers. This is my definitive ranking of the most popular shows of 2019.

10. True Detective came back for season three in January. This season was highly anticipated because this critically acclaimed show starred Mahershala Ali and and Carmen Ejogo. From the storytelling to the plot twists, this show was very enjoyable to watch the story unfold.

9. Game of Thrones premiered its final season back in April. Even though many viewers were waiting for how it ended, most of them were upset with the ending. The episodes had amazing dialogue and fight scenes, but the actual storyline made this show very upsetting to many.

8. Big Little Lies came back for season two in June, and fans were very excited. This show stars many A-list actors, including: Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, and Laura Dern. Season two was highly anticipated because Meryl Streep stepped into the role of Mary Louise Wright. The acting was incredible and fun to watch. The plot was very interesting to figure out what the fallout would be.

7. Umbrella Academy, which is based on Gerard Way’s comic, premiered on Netflix back in January. The story is about children with superpowers being trained to save the world. This dark comedy was action packed and the the soundtrack was incredible and fun. The actors’ attitude throughout the season made this show even more enjoyable to watch.

6. Black Mirror came back for its fifth season in June on Netflix. This anthology series is known for its originality about the unforgiving side of technology. The new season only had three episodes, but the impact of the viewers was surprising. The starring actors are Miley Cyrus, Anthony Mackie, and Andrew Scott.

5. The Mandalorian is a spinoff of the famous trilogy, Star Wars. Pedro Pascal is the lead as his character travels through space as a bounty hunter. The Mandalorian finds a creature that resembles Yoda, the famous Jedi from previous films. This then leads the show into a race to keep the creature safe. The Mandalorian is arguably the best thing Star Wars related since the original trilogy.

4. Euphoria is this years’ most controversial T.V. show. From the explicit storytelling to the incredible acting, this show broke records. Zendaya stars in the new HBO original. The cinematography within the series was so amazing to see and how much work the writers put into this show. The realness of makes Euphoria to the top five.

3. Watchmen is based off of the comic book, Watchmen. The first season aired on HBO, and this show caused a lot of controversy. The development was gripping and leaving viewers on the edge of their seats. At the end of the season, they wrapped all of the storylines together and how they did that was astounding. The realness of the acting made this season much more interesting than any other show.

2. Chernobyl is about the nuclear meltdown that occured in 1986 at Pripyat, Ukraine. This miniseries, which aired on HBO, showed the true causes and reactions to the worst disaster in human history. Most of the characters are based on the heroes who worked on the cleanup. The realness and the acting made this show so incredible.

1. Stranger Things made the top of the list because of how much fun season three was. The season included many hilarious scenes, gripping storylines, and amazing action. The humor helped complement the heartbreak that this show revealed. The acting was fun to watch, and how the storyline pushed the characters to new heights.
