Christmas Gifts to Make for Multiple Families
Caramel Apple Butter can sweeten up any meal with just a little spoonful on any item you would like to try it with.
Ingredients
- 7-8 pounds of medium sized apples
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoons of ginger
- 3/4 teaspoons of ground cloves
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
- 30 unwrapped caramels
- Slow cooker
- Blender
Directions
- Peel and dice the apples.
- Mix the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. After mixing ingredients place it into a slow cooker and cover with lid. Cook on high for 6 hours.
- Blend the apples until smooth. This can be done using an immersion blender or by transferring apples into a blender.
- Return the apple mixture to the slow cooker and stir in the vanilla.
- Melt the caramels by microwaving for 30 seconds intervals until they are soft enough to stir.
- Pour the melted caramels into the apple mixture and stir.
- Put the lid back on the slow cooker crooked so the air can vent. Cook on high for about 1-2 hours.
- Transfer apple butter to airtight containers. Keep in the fridge for 2 weeks or freeze for up to 6 months.
