President Trump Is Being Impeached

President Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives on December 18.

Trump has been charged with Abusing of Power and the Obstruction of Congress. He is the third president to be impeached in the history of the U.S.

David Percario a CHS Senior said, “I don’t think there’s any point in his impeachment since his presidential term is literally almost over. I could care less honestly. Although, I don’t think Trump is a bad person.”

An article on bbc.com has stated, “Trump’s first charge with abuse of power has come from him allegedly trying to pressure Ukraine to talk about the investigations on Joe Biden. Joe Biden is a Democrat, and former vice president of the United States.

His second charge of Obstruction of Congress has come from Trump  “allegedly not cooperating with the impeachment inquiry, holding documentary evidence, and barring his key aides from showing evidence.”

Danielle Snead a CHS Senior said, “I don’t really follow politics, but from what I’ve heard, then, yes, I think he should be impeached. I don’t necessarily think he has abused his power, but he’s done a few stupid things during his presidency.”

According to an article on washingtonpost.com, “The House of Representatives voted on his abuse of power charge article with 230 to 197. Later, the article on his obstruction of congress charge was voted with 229 to 198.”

Nathan Hawker a CHS Senior said, “I don’t think there is enough evidence to charge Trump and impeach him. He has done better than what people thought he would do during his time as president. Employment rates have benefited from his time in office. It honestly kind of surprised me because I also didn’t know how good he would do as president.”

He will have a face a trial in the U.S. Senate at the Supreme Court. The trial supposedly will be starting in January.

Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were the only other U.S. presidents to be impeached.
