Chatham Hall Champions

Two Chatham Hall students score in top one percent nationally in a recent math competition.

Residents of Pittsylvania County were astonished by the two girls from Chatham Hall, an all girls school, who were named to the Mathematical Association of America’s American Mathematics Competition.

Lucia Yang (sophomore) and Tina Zhang (senior) competed along with four other students to achieve 300 points or greater. Lucia Yang received the certificate of achievement for scoring above a 90/150 on the AMC12 as a student in the 10th grade or below.

The MAA AMC program improves mathematical abilities by focusing on middle and high school students. The team earned a school Certificate of Merit for their accomplishment.
