Wrestling Boys Triumph At Regionals

After placement at the 2023 Region 2C Tournament Dogwood Regional Wrestling tournament, the boys will go to the  VHSL 2023 Wrestling State Championship contest.

Chatham placed seventh overall for the tournament with 130 points.

Each member of the team was judged individually, and the first through third placement winners get to attend states.

“I was nervous yet excited, after the match the only thing I wanted was Wendy’s,” Matthew Marlowe, junior, who got 28 in team points, is our new regional champion.

“I was slightly nervous, but I knew I was ready,” Sam Wiebking, junior who got 16 team points, placed in third.

“I was very excited and happy with my placement, I always prepare for a match by listening to my music,” Dallas Harrison, freshman who got 14 team points, also placed in third.

“I felt very relieved with my placement because I knew I was going to states,” Wiebking  said.

“I treated it like every other match, I didn’t let the pressure get to my head,” Marlowe said.

“We wrestled well, and I believe we played at the right time,”Marcus Clements,  the head coach, said.
