The CHS Marching Band crushed the competition Saturday night at the Pittsylvania County Home Show at Tunstall.
The band competed alongside three other bands at Tunstall: Dan River High School, Gretna High School and Tunstall High School.
The judges (Deborah Bray, Kameron Walker, Mike Hand, and Donald Dohm) complimented the group on their marching, playing, and percussion section. Among their comments were “Great salute, I love it,” “You all are going to have an amazing season,” and “The Brass Ensemble was upstanding!” The comments were recorded and the tapes accessed by Logan Epperly, CHS band director.
The event went from 11 A.M to 1:30 P.M.
“I think we did pretty well compared to the other bands. We probably could have been better about getting to sets faster though,”Bailey Broussard, sophomore and flutist, said.
“As a group, I feel like we played great together. The only thing that could have been better was probably getting to sets faster,” sophomore and percussionist TayVion McDaniel said.
“Not many people messed up, but there is always room for improvement, The marching and balance could have been a little better, but overall I’m happy with how far we have come,” sophomore and saxophonist Cameron Polk said.
“I like the way all of us worked together The spacing definitely could have been improved, but besides that I’m proud of us,” junior and trumpeter Zach Stowe said.
“I’m very proud of my band,” Epperly said. “We all worked really well together, and I can’t wait for future competitions and seeing my kids improve.”
