Claw clips are the new must have accessory of the year.
A claw clip is a hair accessory used as an alternative for putting your hair up without risk of hair damage. They are popular because of how versatile they are. They are a healthier alternative to hair ties, hair ties tend to strain and snag hair. Since the 1990s claw clips have fallen out of style until recent years when they made a big comeback.
The most popular hairstyle for the claw clip is a low ponytail; many girls like to do simple and easy hairstyles using this hair accessory.
“I like to use claw clips to style my hair in a ponytail to keep myself cool,” Genesis Banegas, sophomore, said.
“I like doing an easy hairstyle with the claw clip such as a ponytail and half up half down,” Katelyn Stowe, sophomore, said.
Just like in the 90’s, the messy French twist is the most frequently used style with a claw clip. “It’s the most popular because it is fashionable, simple and easy,” according to Google.
Jumbo claw clips are the most commonly used in 2023; it’s a convenient hair accessory for girls with thick hair who sometimes struggle to style their hair. It’s convenient for when hair bows aren’t easily accessible.
” I like to wear the big claw clips because they are more visible,” Banegas said.
“I like the bigger claw clips because my hair is thicker, and it makes it easier to put up,” Stowe said.
“Using claw clips makes it easier to deal with my hair,” Savannah Clay, sophomore, said.
Basic colored claw clips are more usable because they seem to go with everything.
“The simple colored plastic claw clips are my favorite because they go with a variety of my outfits,” Banegas said.
While claw clips have a lot of good qualities there are some complications such as they break easily, pull the hair and scratch the scalp. This is just a few of the reasons why some females choose hair ties over hair clips.
“I don’t like how it pulls on my hair when I’m taking it out of the ponytail,” Banegas said.
“I hate when it moves around and scratches against my scalp,” Ashley Gonzales, sophomore, said.
“I don’t like how the claw clips dig in my scalp and pull my hair,” Stowe said.
