Students at CHS feel that the Kindness Club baskets are being abused.
“I think it’s really rude that we worked so hard to put these baskets together for the girls’ bathroom, and they [students] are gluing personal products to the bathroom walls,” said Caitlynn Hawkins, junior. “It was a good idea at first, but I’m not so sure anymore.”
“In Kindness Club we talk about what we can do to improve the school. When we came up with this idea, I thought it was great. But the way everyone is treating the baskets is really making me doubt our decisions,” said Ashley Gonzalez, junior.
“It isn’t fair that kids are taking advantage of the baskets by stealing and misusing the products,” said Parker Boon, sophomore. “Mrs. Stafford uses her own out-of-pocket money to pay for these supplies, and it’s like some of the kids are just throwing away her money. I feel bad for the kids who actually need these baskets because the other girls are ruining it,” said Boon. ” I think one way we can maybe fix the misuse is by getting Mr. Reece [the principal] to make an announcement about it [the abuse], and if the problem still persists we might have to remove the baskets all together, I’m hoping we don’t have to because I know these baskets might be useful for some students,” said Boon.
