Students both love and hate Valentine’s Day.
Some people love it because they have significant others to spend it with; others dislike it since they have no one to spend the day with.
“I don’t have anyone to spend it with, so it’s just another day for me,” said Faith Oakes, junior.
“I would spend it with my boyfriend, but he’s away at college,” said Mikaylah Matta, senior.
“I personally don’t have anything against it, but I have never done anything for it,” said Alyssa Robertson, senior.
“I only like it if I have a boyfriend,” said Destiny Brown, senior. “I have nothing to do, so I might just go hang out with my friends,” said Destiny Brown.
“It reminds me of an empty house,” said Michael Brown, Spanish teacher. “It’s great for people who have someone; it sucks when you know your lover is with someone else.”
Some students celebrate the day by going out to a cute dinner or hanging out at home with their person.
However, for the students who don’t have a Valentine, they don’t do much celebrating.
“If my boyfriend was home, we would go out to a cute dinner or hangout at his house,” said Matta.
“I’m just going to go home after school,” said Oakes.
The ones who have significant others, love to get cute gifts. The ones who don’t have a significant other, appreciate the little things their parents do for them.
“My mother got me candy and makeup,” said Oakes.
“I always love cute flowers from somebody,” said Brown.
“I’m not really a gift-giving person, so I don’t really care what I get if I do get anything,” said Robertson.
