Students and faculty are frequently burnt out after nine weeks of school, and many believe the remedy is to implement a fall break.
“A fall break would be amazing,” Amanda Smotherman, SPED teacher, said. “Everyone’s getting drained around this time; it’s been a complaint for years. A great solution would be a fall break.”
Other teachers agree.
“I think it would solve some student behavior problems,” Rachel Corwin, English teacher, said. “Both students and teachers would feel more motivated after some rest.”
Students also really want a fall break.
“I don’t know why they [Central Office] don’t just give us a fall break like they do in the spring,” Lane Burke, senior, said. “Other schools have fall breaks.”
“It’s true we have a Thanksgiving break, but it’s just too long after summer break,” Harley Emerson, freshman, said.
“A fall break would mean more time to spend with our families and rest,” Abigail Chivis, freshman, said.
“Most of us need an opportunity to catch up on some sleep, especially after the chaos of getting everything in within the end of the first nine weeks,” Jaden Farris, junior, said. “A fall break would be perfect for that.”
