Seniors are struggling right now as they balance schoolwork and college applications.
Forms, money requirements, recommendation letters cause stress.
Fear and anxiety can also play a huge role in the admissions process and may cause some depression. These feelings are normal. Coping skills and strategies are needed.
“I designated Saturday as my “get stuff done” day,” Ameyea Murphy, senior. “This way, I have Sunday to relax before going back to school. I also listen to R&B music to keep me relaxed and focused on the assignment.”
“I’m not stressed about college applications because I realized there is no need to stress because you’re going to get accepted by one college regardless of anything,” Aamira Stanfield, senior, said.
“The only thing I’m stressed about is deadlines,” Susannah Wilkison, senior, said.
“Filing applications are stressful, GPA, and wondering if I’m going to get accepted or not,” Amiracle Starling, senior, said.
A rejection letter can be a real fear to a high school applicant. Scholarships or admissions rejections may make a student feel discouraged and overwhelmed, both of which may cause stress.
Those students dealing with overwhelm, stress, anxiety, and fear, can speak with friends, trusted adults, even a school counselor or teacher for reassurance.
