Wrestling season begins Nov. 11; the first scrimmage is Nov. 26.
One wrestler who has competed his entire high school career is Matthew Marlow. He is excited about what the season holds.
“I want to make sure this year, that our team improves and becomes great,” Marlow, senior, said. “I’m hoping that our team maintains their weights and leaves everything they got out there [on the mat].”
Marlowe has an outstanding record, qualifying for Virginia High School League States three times during his career: Freshman year: fifth place; sophomore year: second place, and junior year, second place. “I’ve come close, but this year I’m standing my ground and hoping to win first in States,” Marlowe said.
“I am going to let him [Matthew Marlow] do his thing, but I’m also going to guide him in the right direction,” Coach Marcus Clements said.
“There is more to life than sports; this sport is fun, but more importantly, we should know that how we treat ourselves and others will play a big role in the legacy we leave behind,” Coach Clements said.
