Students at Chatham are looking forward to their Thanksgiving traditions.
“My family always has multiple family dinners and we play cards,” Hannah Wilson, senior, said. “My favorite is usually dinner because the food is the best part of Thanksgiving. My favorite foods are always the turkey and mac and cheese. I don’t usually help with making food; my mom and aunt do all the cooking. The day after, I will sometimes go Black Friday shopping. I love it because I can never resist a deal,” Wilson said.
Others enjoy different traditions that don’t involve food.
“My favorite tradition is watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.” Tara Hatcher, senior, said. “My favorite foods are the rolls and mac and cheese. My mom or grandma usually does most of the cooking. I mainly do the desserts, like cookies,” Hatcher said.
“Watching ‘Planes, Trains, and Automobiles’ every Thanksgiving, with my family, is my favorite tradition,” Kennedy Hanks, senior, said. “Mac and cheese is hands down my favorite food every year. I leave most of the cooking to my mom, but I do help peel the potatoes and keep an eye on the stove. I never end up going shopping on Black Friday because the sales are never as good as people say they are,” Hanks said.
