“Ponyo” is a 2006 fantasy and adventure movie by Studio Ghibli.
Sosuke, the main character, is a young boy who makes friends with a magical goldfish who he names Ponyo.
Ponyo escapes her wizard father, who is overbearing in his protection of her. She then uses her powers to turn herself into a human as she desires to stay with Sosuke, whom she loves dearly.
She and Sosuke live together with his mother, causing Ponyo to become more and more human-like over time.
After being captured by her father again, Ponyo causes a great flood in order to get back with Sosuke. The flood causes the destruction of the village they live in.
The couple works together to fix the flood and convince Ponyo’s father to let her stay as a human.
This film is filled to the brim with pretty visuals and sweet moments as well as iconic scenes that many artists take inspiration from.
We love this movie because of its sweet story and creative visuals. It is a feel-good movie that we recommend to all art lovers.
