Cameron Martin, senior, has a passion for wrestling.
Martin has wrestled for three years. “I love the feeling of intensity and adrenaline you get from going onto the mat; it’s an unmatched feeling,” Martin said.
He plans to improve and beat tough opponents. “I constantly want to be a better version of myself and beat those who are tough and good,” he said.
He admires the challenge of wrestling.
“The pressure from workouts and being on the mat is what makes wrestling so rewarding,” said Martin.
Wrestling is a huge part of his life; he plans to pursue this sport in college or club. He respects Kyle Dake, a freestyle wrestler; he inspires Martin because of his tough and fearless style.
“Knowing that there’s always someone better than me, and my love and passion for the sport, is what keeps me motivated,” said Martin.
Coach Marcus Clements, Cameron’s coach, notices his passion and dedication to the sport. “I want him to focus on his mindset and be the best wrestler of this season,” said Coach Clements. “Cameron is one of our most dedicated wrestlers; he is smart, dedicated, and coachable. He has the qualities that you would want in a wrestler.”
Coach Clements explains that there’s more to Cameron’s future than just wins. “I want him to know that no matter how good he does this year, he is going to be great in the real world.”
