Parents and students filled the bleachers to watch the Quarterback Queens take on the Turf Terrors.
The “Quarterback Queens” consisted of freshmen and sophomores, and “Turf Terrors” consisted of juniors and seniors.
Pizza, hot chocolate, and a variety of snacks were served at the concession stand. The food was donated and served by members of the Beta Club: the sponsors of the game.
The third quarter of the game was preceded by a hilariously uncoordinated dance number, performed by members of each team, cheerleaders, and the heads of Beta themselves.
Though the Quarterback Queens put up their best effort, the Turf Terrors lead for the majority of the game. The final scores were 38 to 12.
“It was a fun night,” Lane Burke, senior, said. “I enjoyed hanging out with my friends and watching the players; though, I wasn’t expecting the dance number; that was pretty interesting.”
“I’m so proud of them! My daughter might not have won, but it was good! I wish the coaches had played her more,” Amanda Smotherman, spectator of the game, said.
“We didn’t have the best coaches [students] or the clearest instructions, but I don’t regret playing,” Olivia Smotherman, freshman, said. “We had a good time and did our best, but now I’m hungry.”
“You know, Powder Puff isn’t really about who wins or loses, anyway,” Rachel Corwin, organizer of the game, said. “It’s more so about the audience and players enjoying themselves, and I think they did.”
