Wicked is the third most popular movie of 2024; it grossed over half a billion dollars within the first month of its release.
The story involves two witches in a fantasy setting played by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as they struggle to connect through their different views of the world.
A few Chatham Cavaliers have seen the movie and have varied opinions on it.
Norah Linn, senior, said Elphaba was her favorite character because “She’s so dramatic but emotional in a way. She has a lot of depth and growth in the end. My favorite song was ‘Dancing Through Life.’ I think it was very well done, and I liked the cinematography. The casting was good, and the singing was great. There was never a moment I thought the songs were performed badly.”
“I think it was good, and I’m excited for part two,” Claire Crawford, senior, said. “My favorite song was ‘No One Mourns for the Wicked.'”
Wicked is a fan favorite and is continuing to grow in popularity. Find it in theaters, Fandango, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.
