Virtual learning has become a popular way of utilizing days missed in Pittsylvania County due to Virginia’s inclement weather.

Teachers and students alike struggled to keep up with the missed days, and many teachers weren’t prepared to give out so much work in advance. Many students failed to keep up with new assignments.
Some believe the idea of virtual learning days is smart while others believe it is useless.
“We are running out of time before your SOL’s and these virtual days aren’t going to help you guys learn everything you need to know,” Mrs. Allison Puckett, science teacher, said.
Students agree that virtual days are difficult.
“I wish days off weren’t virtual days so that I don’t have to risk doing the work incorrectly,” Cole Estep, sophomore, said. “My power was out for most of the days so I couldn’t even do the work.”
The reasoning behind virtual days is simple.
“I want to avoid taking snow days from spring break,” Dr. Mark Jones, Pittsylvania County Schools Superintendent, said. “Instead of pulling makeup days from spring break, virtual days will count as full days.”
