Athletes need ankle support shoes.
Guard, Aneesha Morrow, Louisiana State women’s basketball star, recently severely injured her ankle in against University of Texas. Her injury spotlighted the need for more supportive footwear.
Ankle support shoes aren’t only for basketball.
“Ankle support shoes have protected my ankles from injuries while I was active playing football,” Javion Webb, freshman, said. “Ankle Support shoes are going out of style, but style shouldn’t matter when playing sports.”
Ankle support shoes aren’t just for style but for protection.
“I would rather have a comfortable, and good quality shoe best suited for the game because style is only aesthetic,” Mr. Zackary Williams, science teacher, said. “I have not personally used ankle support shoes, but I can imagine how much they provide a good amount of support with minimal loss in mobility,” Williams said.

Nike, Under Armour, Way of Wade, and Lamelo Ball all-over ankle support.
“Under Armour provides the best ankle support because of the material and overall durability,” Webb said.
“Nike offers the best support for running because that is all I do,” Ethan Jacobs, sophomore, said.
Shoes without ankle support increase the risk of injury.
“Shoes that don’t have ankle support increase the risk of injury because you need something to support your ankle while running and jumping,” Webb, said.
“Support is needed because they reduce injuries by limiting any excess movement in that area that cause injury,” Williams said. “Basketball has dynamic movement and quick footwork unlike running which is consistent movements.”
