Students use social media every day to communicate and share parts of their lives.
Despite its popularity, social media can take a toll on people’s mental health.
” I spend around two hours a day on social media,” Kennedy Hanks, senior, said. “I used to be dependent on “likes” or comments but not anymore. I just have friends and family on my account, so it doesn’t really matter.”
Some students said they never cared for others’ opinions.
“I’ve never relied on other people to determine my worth,” Alex Smotherman, senior, said. “I only really watch videos on social media.”
“I only use social media around 30 minutes a day,” Leah Bridgeforth, junior, said. “Likes and comments don’t really matter to me. The comments usually make me laugh.”
