Teachers have many unique activities and hobbies they have outside of their job.
“My favorite activity outside of school is working out because it calms me down after a long day at work and it is an overall stress-reliever,” Mrs. A. Scott, math teacher and private softball instructor, said. “I initially began working out 10 years ago to help lose weight, and it turned into an activity I truly enjoy.”
Other teachers prefer something calmer and personal.
“If I didn’t work at Chatham High School, I would probably stay at home gardening and helping my husband on our farm,” Mrs. Deborah Maxey, Librarian, said. “After a long day at work, I love to sit down and read, watching the beautiful scenery outside my home as I indulge in the relaxation of all of my hard work.”
When asked what they would change about their job, all teachers said the same thing.
“If I could change one thing about my job, I would change the student’s attentiveness,” Mr. Zackary Williams, science teacher, said. “Back when I was in school, there was a lot less apathy, and I feel like nowadays my job and time is being wasted. If people wanted to learn like I did, I would be a lot less stressed at home.”
