UConn competes in the Final Four National Championship basketball team against former champions South Carolina.
The majority of basketball fans seemed to be pulling for South Carolina.
“I wanted South Carolina to win because my family has been with them since I was little,” Ma’khayiah Hairston, sophomore, said.
“I hoped for South Carolina to win because I wanted to see them repeat [their win], and they worked hard to get there,” Javion Webb, freshman, said.
Opinions varied on which team is overall better but the stats show who’s better.
“UConn is better overall if you look at their stats,” Webb, said.
There are amazing basketball players on both teams.
“I like Chloe Kitts of UConn because she’s an icon; Paige Bueckers of UConn because she’s good at basketball, and she’s also a good person,” Hairston, said.
“I like the way Chloe Kitts plays because she knows how to play the game of basketball, and Paige Bueckers because she’s the best at what she does,” Webb, said.
Paige Bueckers won Best Player in women’s college basketball.
“I like the fact that she won because she carries her team,” Hairston, said.
“It’s a good take but Juju Watkins is better,” Webb, said.
College women’s basketball is where girls make a name for themselves, like MiLaysia Fulwiley, South Carolina basketball player, who made her own basketball shoe with UnderArmour called “Butta.”
“They look like they have good traction and good ankle support but just look heavy,” Webb, said.
