At least 70% of students report consuming caffeinated beverages on a regular basis.
Some drink a cup of coffee every morning, while others consume multiple energy drinks throughout the day.
“I don’t drink an energy drink every day, but I do drink them pretty frequently,” Olivia Smotherman, freshman, said. “I usually drink one or two Monsters or Alanis a day when I have them.”
“I just drink a cup of coffee in the morning sometimes,” Abigail Chivvis, freshman, said. “I’ve been getting into more sports recently, so I’ve been trying to eat and drink better.”
Some do both.
“Sometimes I drink coffee in the morning then a Red Bull in the afternoon,” Harley Emerson, freshman, said. “If not, then I’ll just drink one or two Red Bulls during the day.”
Some rarely drink caffeine, if at all.
“I actually don’t drink caffeine all that often,” Audrey Erickson, senior, said. “When I do, it’s usually a Monster or latte in the morning just to wake me up.”
“I used to never drink caffeine, aside from a can of Coke or something like that,” Lane Burke, senior, said. “I still don’t, really, but every so often I’ll have a can of Red Bull. There’s this one specific flavor I really like called Winterberry.
