Students at CHS prefer one type of pencil over another.
Mechanical pencils are favored a lot more than wooden pencils.
“I use mechanical pencils for all my writing assignments because they are more comfortable to write with,” Morgan Betterton, freshman, said. “The thing I don’t like about wood pencils is how uncomfortable they can get to hold, and how I have to constantly sharpen my pencil when it breaks.”
“Mechanical pencils are better because I can just refill my lead whenever my lead runs out, and I can replace the eraser whenever it gets used up,” Jobari Freeman, freshman, said. “I’ll use a wooden pencil, but it’s not my favorite; I don’t really like how they feel when you write and the erasers can’t be replaced when it’s gone.”
“I prefer mechanical pencils over wooden pencils because I don’t like constantly using the pencil sharpener and mechanical pencils have grips that make them comfortable to hold during a long period of time,” Loren Witcher, freshman, said. “Wooden pencils aren’t comfortable to hold during a long period of time.”
