The consumption of multiple energy drinks a day over an extended period of time can lead to hospitalization.
According to The DAWN Report, emergency room visits by people twelve and older regarding the use of energy drinks doubled from 2007 to 2010, and the numbers continue to escalate.
The number of visits increased from 10,068 to 20,783.
One out of ten are hospitalized; most return home after treatment, but some require further hospitalization or result with health complications afterwards.
Consumers should be very careful about energy drink consumption if they want to avoid a trip to the hospital.
Alternative energy boosts include a cup of coffee (in moderation), longer sleep hours, and a balanced diet and consistent hydration.
