“I personally like cooking at home instead of going out; even when I’m offered the opportunity, I say, ‘No,'” Violet Mills, junior, said. “Going out to eat is so expensive in this economy, I prefer cooking at home.”
A popular tip is to use what you already have.
“Unless I have to get plastic, I carry a reusable water bottle instead of buying drinks daily,” Kylee Taylor, junior, said. “I use a coffee mug when I’m at home instead of a disposable.”
Some are creative when it comes to paying bills.
“Instead of me just paying my Netflix and Hulu bill, my brother and I split it so it’ll be easier on us,” Jameer Johnson, senior, said.
Students also have tips for budgeting for dates.
“My boyfriend and I set a budget before we go out,” Zariya Moon, sophomore, said. “We never go over it even if we really want to.”
“When my boyfriend and I plan to go out to do something on the weekend, that whole week we try to earn extra money,” Myleah Miller, senior, said. “Like I’ll babysit or he’ll cut grass.”
“My girlfriend and I go to the library because we both enjoy reading, and it’s free, so that helps us save some money for our future outings,” Ethan Pool, junior, said.
