This week’s student spotlight is freshman Aileen Gonzalez.

Freshman year can be difficult for many freshmen.
“I honestly thought I would need to get to class quicker,” Aileen Gonzalez said. “Mainly because the high school is bigger than the middle school. Now that I’ve settled into my first semester schedule I always make it on time to class. I rarely have to worry about making it to class before the tardy bell.”
The new difficulty of class flow is also another challenge to freshmen.
“My class have been fabulous, nothing too difficult,” said Gonzalez. “My favorite class is art because I really enjoy drawing and improving my art skills,” said Gonzalez. She also mentioned that she thought she would have homework to do, but in reality she barely does and only studies for her classes.
There are many clubs and after school activities freshmen can join.
Gonzalez is in one particular club, Kindness Club. “I am in the Kindness Club because my sister, Ashley Gonzalez Espinoza (a senior), is a part of the club, and I wanted to join for fun.”
Many exciting events have happened already throughout the school year.
Gonzalez’s favorite was during Spirit Week: Dress As Your Favorite Character Day.
“My friends and I were Alvin and the Chipmunks,” said Gonzalez.
Challenges occur that are obstacles to a good day.
“One of the biggest challenges I’ve so far is forgetting my extra change of clothes for gym class,” said Gonzalez. “Some advice I would give to myself before the first day of school is to always make sure my clothes are in my bag before leaving the house,” said Gonzalez.
As the year continues so do new things people can look forward to.
“One thing I definitely look forward to is getting over this year’s SOL testing,” said Gonzalez. “Because I won’t have to stress about learning anything else and sitting down to study when I get home,” said Gonzalez.
