Studies show that 116 books are lost among libraries monthly due to stealing.
After hearing about these statistics, we decided to ask our own school librarian about her personal experience when it comes to book thieves.
“Students do not steal very often, because they normally check them out like they’re supposed to.”
“I do an inventory every year to check for missing items, and in the past five I’ve only come across two that have been missing,” said Mrs. Maxey. “Students typically check out books before, in between, or after classes. I have 190 books checked out right now.”
Stealing books may still be a big issue, but students at CHS know the right way to enjoy their favorite stories.
