Seniors want to leave their memories for others to enjoy and appreciate.
“The slang from this year that I would put into the time capsule is ‘no tea, no shade,’ which is used when you’re telling someone the truth, but you don’t want to come off as offensive; because it’s something that I say very often and I find it iconic,” Anardia Harris, senior, said. “I would put a picture of myself so that way in the future I could look back on how I looked during these years.” H
For many, sayings and attitudes are the most memorable.
“I would preserve my first high school football game because it created a core memory for my friend group and me,” Jayla Milner, senior, said. “An inside joke I would put in the time capsule is ‘sipping on haterade,’ a phrase that somebody blurted out in class one day and now its a phrase used often by my friend group,” Milner said.
“I choose to put my transcript because I feel like college applications have been monopolizing my time lately and have become my biggest task to tackle this year,” Shemariah Jones, senior, said. ” I would preserve the memory of my freshman geometry class because that class allowed me to make new friends that I still love to talk to today. I would also add a photo of my grandmother because she was my first and number one supporter.”
Many of theses seniors want to be reminded of the growth that they made over the years after they would have been graduated.
“I would add into the time capsule a letter I would write to my future self to be reminded of how far I’ve came since then,” Elizabeth Yeatts, senior, said. “I would also add in a recording of our last pep rally because we are finally seniors, and we won’t get to experience a high school pep rally again.”
