Most locals are pleased with the results of the election.
“I think it’s an answer to prayers,” Amanda Smotherman, SPED teacher, said. “Hopefully, Trump will be able to fix the economy–which is something America needs more than anything.”
“We’re all so relieved Donald Trump won the election,” Robin Emerson said. “We just need to keep hoping and praying that the Republicans win the House, too.”
“I stayed up ’til 2 a.m. watching the election,” Lane Burke, senior, said. “When I fell asleep, Trump had the majority of the votes. After that, I don’t think there was any question he was going to win.”
“Yeah, I’m happy Trump won the election,” Olivia Smotherman, freshman, said. “He might not be an amazing person, but he’s a good President–and that’s all that really matters right now.”
Others aren’t as enthusiastic.
“I feel like the election could’ve been rigged,” an anonymous student said. “I heard there were machines automatically voting for Trump when the ballots were really in favor of Harris.”
“I’m most concerned about the total abortion ban Trump might bring,” Macy Brown, freshman, said. “I think it’s a bit inhumane.”
“I really wasn’t in favor of either candidate,” Jaden Farris, junior, said. “I’m worried about what might happen to our country. There could be another Civil War, at this rate.”
