Hippology team at South Ridge Rally
The hippology team went to the Old Dominion Agriculture Complex (ODAC) last week for a hippology and horse judging competition.
The team is Madison Swanson, sophomore; Mary Ross, sophomore; Bella Autry, Junior; and Abigayl Sexton, junior. They ended up placing third out of 20 other teams competing.
The team identified feeds, gave a slideshow presentation with a test, placed horses, and solved a team problem.
The team liked the competition and the different activities that were involved.
“I loved getting to meet new people that share the same interests as me and the learning opportunity that came with it. I also really liked doing the stations since it was the easiest part,” said Ross who placed 17th.
“The slide shows were my favorite part; they were not very hard,” said Swanson.
The team was emotional and excited about the competition.
“I was very nervous going into it,” said Swanson.
“I was nervous at first, but once I relaxed I had a lot of fun,” said Ross.
They all plan on doing it again in a few weeks at Lexington Horse Center after having so much fun last week.
“I would love to do it again,” said Ross.
“I can’t wait to do it again it was so much fun,” said Swanson.
