Students vs Teachers ACE Match

The ACE team beat the teachers with a score of 210-105.

At the end of the first set, the score was close with the teachers down by 20 points. Unfortunately, it didn’t stay that way for long.

The second set concluded with a score of 130-80.

Ms. Miranda Quarles, college and ACE team advisor,  was one of four teachers on the teachers’ side.  “I had hope for the teachers at first, but either way it’s a win-win, because either my team wins, or I win,” said Quarles.

In the third set, the students blew the teachers out of the water.

Mrs. Tara Stafford, biology; Quarles; Mrs. Taylor Morris, school counselor;  and Mrs. Wendy Kapp, English,  led the teachers’ team, while the students were led by Team Captain Samantha Woods, senior;  and Tristan Hernandez, junior.

“I expected the teachers match to be tougher than it was. I think it could be that we’ve practiced these question formats and had stronger background knowledge,” said Eli Goins, junior, and ACE member.

The ACE Team currently has a record of 2-4 and will travel to Gretna this Thursday to take on William Campbell and Altavista.
