Freshman year can be scary for some people.
“It was scary for me because there are taller people and bigger graders than me, and it also made me nervous that there is other people around me,” Vaniya White, freshman, said.
“I was excited but nervous at the same time because of all these new people, the new school, and new teachers,” Addly Guillen, freshman, said.
”I straight up just didn’t want to be around people honestly because I don’t like a lot of people around me,” Gabrielle Martin, sophomore, said.
Being a ninth grader can come with challenges, but some have made it simpler by being positive.
“I did have challenges; the main challenge was figuring out my schedule,”Addly said. “I turned to an upperclassmen for help and that made it more positive.”
“There were challenges I had. It was learning new rules and figuring out what classes I needed,” Nicea Russeu, sophomore, said. “I solved it by talking to principals, teachers, and counselors to explain my schedule and rules.”
Some even have fear about the higher levels of high school.
“I am scared of not graduating,” Vaniya said.
“I don’t think I’m that scared, but it’s mostly about the classes getting harder,” Addly said.
“I am scared because it’s going to be a lot to handle and get it altogether plus being the spot light all year,” Nicea said.
