Seniors at Chatham High sometimes struggle with maintaining jobs along with school.
“I work in fast food, and I usually work 20-30 hours in a week at Zaxby’s,” Quintavia Witherspoon, senior, said .”I balance them out by not overworking myself and still maintaining my sleep schedule.”
Other find understanding managers who help with the scheduling.
“I tell my manager about extra curricular activities outside of school, and she schedules me around it to help with my hours at work,” Cole Ferrell, senior, said. “My parents are cool with me working since it helps me with money and also college.”
Some have learned how to make best use of down time.
“My job makes my stress level go up, but I manage it with relaxing in bed with my free time while getting help from friends with my studies,” Ethan Pool, senior, said, “The biggest challenges is doing night shifts is waking up at 6am for school just to go back to work after.”
Others have supporting parents.
“My parents are fine with working they tell me it teaches, and how to save money.” Mason Newcomb, senior, said.
“My biggest challenges is struggling with sleep, and my studying hours while attending school, and clocking in to work right after.” Michaela Pugh, senior, said.
