The school phone ban is an issue to many people because of emergencies and enforcement.
Governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin made a law where students couldn’t use their cellphones in class.
” I don’t like that they banned the phone from being on your person because what if there is an emergency,” Hollie Swanson, junior, said.
“The phone ban was not a really good idea because if something bad happens I would want to be able to text my parents,” Alyssa Harrison, senior, said.
The law restricting phone use is tailored to have students focus on learning during class time.
Before the phone ban, students often were using their phones during the class period, but now if a student is caught using his/her phone there will be a lot of trouble.
The ultimate punishment is that a student is banned from ever bringing his/her phone to school will have to leave it at home or in the car.
Many parents disagree with the phone ban just as some of the students do.
“My parents said they feel like we don’t have to use them but should keep them on our person in case we really need them,” Yarboro.
“My parents think it’s a good idea because it’s class time,” Jaylynn McConnell, freshman, said.
