Lady Cavs are getting prepared as basketball season approaches.
“This season I am going to play with more energy, aggression, and determination,” Loren Witcher, sophomore, said. “I’m going to play much more tougher than I did last season.”
“Some things I could work on this season are shooting,” she said. “Last season I wasn’t the best at shooting so I am looking forward to improving it. Over the years I would say I have become more competitive,” she said. “Playing against the older girls helped me out a lot.”
Training is a big part of her strategy.
“I plan on staying in the gym and practicing as much as I can,” Witcher said. “The more I stay in the gym the more improvement I will see. Even though I love basketball one thing I’m not looking forward to is conditioning,” she said. “Conditioning everyday of the week becomes so tiring.”
The team’s upcoming schedule is challenging.
“During the season we play a lot of competitive teams,” Witcher said. ” Some matchups I am looking forward to are George Washington High School (GW) and Dan River High School.”
“Some advice I would give to younger athletes would be to REMAIN COACHABLE at all times,” Witcher said. “Always be open to learning new things. Throughout the season my coaches and the varsity team have been very encouraging,” she said. “They have left a huge impact on me as a player.”
