This week’s Senior Spotlight is Jayla Milner.
“My senior year has been going very well since I started it,” said Jayla Millner. “My favorite part has been creating lasting memories with my friends and knowing that when I look back at high school, and that’s what I’ll think about looking back at all of my high school years.”
“My senior year is much easier than all of my other years of high school, because I’ve already completed most of my required classes to graduate,” said Millner.
There are many clubs and after school activities that all students can be involved in.
“I am involved in many clubs,” said Millner. “I am in the Kindness Club, Beta Club, FBLA, and I am on the student council.”
There are many events for her to look forward to in her senior year.
“I am looking forward to big milestones like Decision Day and prom,” said Millner.
Millner has some mixed emotions about graduation.
“I am very excited for graduation because I know that I am heading towards my future,” said Millner. “I will miss the amount of structure, and how easy it is to see/ be around all of my friends.”
Millner already has her future outside of high school planned out.
“I plan on going to either VCU or Winston-Salem State to college, while working as an EMT,” said Millner.
“I want to major in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Kinesiology,” said Millner. “I decided I wanted to do this after my dad had a stroke.”
“I feel that I am ready to start my life as I start studying and working towards my career path that I chose,” said Millner. “I am most excited for the feeling of freedom and doing what I want to do with my life.”
“If I could give any advice to a younger student, I would say to educate yourself on what you want to do in the future and how you want to do it,” said Millner. “I would also say to keep your social circle small but tight.”
