Remote learning days are becoming an alternative to a snow day during the winter season.
Schools close when ice and snow cause hazardous driving conditions.
Remote learning days require teachers to send work home with students to complete during snow days.
Most parents dislike remote learning days because it forces them to find child care, keep their child on task, and it impedes their own work schedule.
Some students enjoy having remote learning days.
“I prefer remote learning days because I am able to work at my own pace and enjoy being in the comfort of my own home,” Sydney Moss, senior, said. “I dislike sitting in a school desk for seven hours every day.”
Others prefer being in the classroom with their teacher to better comprehend what they are learning.
“I prefer learning in the classroom because if we are out of school for snow, we should be able to enjoy our day,” Isabel Wyatt, senior, said.
“I prefer having remote learning days because I do not have to push myself to do my school work and nobody is in my ear rushing me,” Jakiyah Giggetts, senior, said.
