MarKayla Mayo is a junior.
She plays on the Chatham Varsity Girls’ basketball team.
She has five siblings, including a set of twin brothers; she’s the second to oldest child.
Mayo also has a 4.4 GPA; she is taking advanced classes.
She loves working in her free time and also love playing basketball.
Her motivation for life is herself.
“My drive and will to get away from Chatham is strong, so I know that I will make it,” Mayo, junior, said.
Her biggest goal is to be financially stable and set in her career by the age of 30, because she doesn’t want to still be in the same process of figuring life out.
“I want to go to college and major in psychology,” Mayo said, “I’ve always had an interest in how the mind works, and how people think.”
Losing someone dear to her recently has been very challenging for her, but it has taught her to live life to the fullest because you never know when your time is up.
“I am very passionate about basketball, although it makes me frustrated when things don’t go the right way, most of the time I find peace in it,” Mayo said.
